About this Event
Mandela8 invites you to take a guided walk along Princes Avenue and Boulevard, from the Rialto at the junction of Upper Parliament Street and Princes Avenue, the gateway to Liverpool 8, to Princes Park and the Mandela Memorial on the park lake's island.
With a special emphasis on the experiences of the area's Black community, the walk guide will provide a series of links to online videos, podcasts and websites that enable you to gain a deeper comprehension of the history, heritage and culture of the area and the people who have settled there.
The walks will be guided by Robert Awork Jr. Robert is a lifelong inhabitant of L8, of mixed West African / Irish heritage. A witness to the uprising of 81, his working life has been focused on activism in the areas of arts, culture, youth work and community development.
Buses 86, 80 and 75 take you to the Rialto.
The walk is a distance of approx 1 mile, and will last approx 1.5 hours.
Wheelchair access is good along the whole route.

Places limited to 20 people per walk, so early booking is advised.
The walks will start at 1.00 pm on Sunday 5th January, Sunday 2nd February and Sunday 2nd March.
