Job Description: The mission of the City of Boston Property Management Department (PMD) is to manage, maintain, repair, and provide security for the City's municipal buildings, including City Hall and Faneuil Hall; to preserve the useful life of City facilities and reduce operating costs through effective preventative maintenance measures.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs security duty at an assigned post and/or performs security patrols by vehicle or on foot of buildings and grounds with particular emphasis on security and safety violations.
  • Responds to alarms or other calls for assistance and reports all safety and security violations to the Sergeant.
  • Assists with the safety of vehicle and pedestrian traffic and issues authorized traffic enforcement citations.
  • Prepares incident reports, monitors security cameras and accesses controls and requires visitors to register in/out in log books.
  • Assists other Public Safety agencies in safety and security violations.
  • Apprehends and arrests individuals who break the law in their area of assignment.
  • Secures and maintains all equipment issued by the department and maintains necessary supplies of report forms, log books, and access control sheets for their shift.
  • Performs other related security tasks as designated by the Sergeant.
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Must have and maintain a current Massachusetts driver's license.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
  • Boston Residency is Required
