About this Event
At the 75th anniversary of partition Border Crossings invite you to a night of sensory experience and immersion at the Brunei Gallery Buildings, SOAS on 22nd September 2022
This mushaira will bring together voices of the multiverse which challenge and defy religious majoritarianism and highlight how communities have continued to exist in multiple and overlapping ways in South Asia and the diaspora.
The event will showcase talent and creativity reflecting continuing connections and resistances which strive to challenge communal discourses on the partition seeking to separate and emphasize difference and discord. It will draw on rich and diverse forms of poetry, music and spoken word from South Asia and the diaspora which are the foundations for alternative visions of the multiverse.
With performers Babar Luck, Moushumi Bhowmik , DJ Shahrukh, Nabihah Iqbal, Rasika Ajotikar and SOAS student contributions.
From 17:00 to 19:00 experience Project Dastaan's VR installation 'Child of Empire' and animated shorts 'Lost Migrations'. In the Brunei Gallery, free, walk in.
