Composer Dr. Robert Xavier Rodríguez – holder of an endowed chair at UT Dallas and director of the Musica Nova ensemble – has had his operas and instrumental works performed worldwide. Forty-six of his compositions appear on commercial CDs (including a 1999 Grammy nomination), and all 151 of his works are published exclusively by G. Schirmer. He has also served as composer-in-residence with both the San Antonio and Dallas symphonies.At the Multimedia 50th-Anniversary Celebration Concert: Music of Robert Xavier Rodríguez, guest artists will join UT Dallas faculty and alumni for a program of music inspired by playful reflections on love: Romance with a Double Bass (Chekhov), Six Songs (E. E. Cummings), and The Dot and the Line (Norton Juster).
Soloists: Fred Curchack, Mikhail Berestnev, Haley Sicking, Daniel Nix, and Mary-Margaret Pyeatt.
Conductor: Héctor Guzmán.
