The theme of the festival’s 27th edition is .•°“Helplessness is a Foreign Land.”°•. Inspired by the poetry of Viola Fischerová, this theme invites us to reflect on moments when a person finds themselves without support, without influence, without a voice — and yet, within that silence, words, verses, tones, poems, and new beautiful things are born.
Den Poezie ( “Day of Poetry”) is an annual poetry festival, taking place from 10 to 23 November 2025 around the birthday of the Czech Romantic poet Karel Hynek Mácha. Over time it has grown beyond poetry readings into a two-week celebration bringing poetry to many places across the country. It features a mix of well-known Czech and international poets, as well as emerging voices.
