This year, we recognize the heart and soul of women (mujeres de corazón). We acknowledge the ways that gender roles often dictate that women and feminine people are often forced to bear the brunt of emotional labor in our relationships, workplace, and homes. Historically, they have been the backbone and heart of our communities, yet, are often not recognized for their integral roles in shaping societies and acting as catalysts for change. Women have also been central components in social justice movements, while bringing creativity and strength to their communities.
