Decorate a Krysti Huber handmade mug with ceramic decals, lead by local artist Krysti Huber. Clay Activity.
About this Event

Use underglazes, decals, stamps and more to decorate your very own, handmade ceramic mug. Mugs will be built and pre-fired by artist Kyrsti Huber, allowing you to decorate it to your heart's content! Mugs will be left to be glazed and fired a second time, and then we will contact you when your mug is ready to be picked up.

About the Artist, Maker and Educator:

In November 2021, Krysti Huber became the first artist to take part in the Ceramic Arts Residency program at the Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery. Krysti Huber is the founder of Scarlet Oak Ceramics, a small batch pottery studio based out of Bright, Ontario.

Artist’s Statement:

My passion for purchasing pottery has transformed into a passion for creating it. As a lover of coffee, currently the bulk of my creations are mugs.

Throughout the COVID pandemic I found myself overwhelmed trying to balance motherhood, a 9-5 job I wasn't really into, and further developing my ceramic skills. Once my children were in bed, I would put on Ben Howard and hone in over the wheel throwing until I went to bed. Finally gaining enough confidence and a 'what the heck' attitude, I officially started a business and began attending shows to sell my creations.

Then something magical happened. This past year I was selected as an emerging ceramic artist with the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery funded by KW art fund. Through this residency I have been able to make so many wonderful connections in the local pottery scene and have truly been humbled by the support they have given me.

I have an education in interior design, and I love to make functional ceramics that double as decor.
