Race Starts
The aim will be to start the waves from slowest to fastest with the start of the waves being like previous years based on a handicap. In essence we are trying to have everyone finish at the same time, but you are racing in your set waves with people of similar ability and being awarded points based on your wave rather than being first across the line.
Rules
1. The MCC will be based on divisional racing which means you will be racing paddlers of similar ability and speed.
2. The points allocated will be the same for each division 1st Place = 12 points, 2nd place 10 points, 3rd place 8 points, 4th place 6 points, All other finishers 5 points. Equal points will apply for a tie.
3. Points cannot be carried up or down between the Divisions.
Points earned in a division will count towards a paddler’s total for that
Division only, with a minimum of five (5) races required in any one Division to be
eligible for a Divisional prize.
4. Participants will be encouraged to take turns with timekeeping and will be allocated the equivalent of the winner’s points within the division they normally paddle on the day of timekeeping as a ‘once only’. Volunteers will be asked for at the briefing for the following race. If for any reason eg injury they have the time to help in additional races they will be allocated 5 points as if finishing outside the top 4.
5. All PA/PNSW members are eligible to compete and have the ability to win their division. Winners of each division will be recognised with a medal at our club presentation.
6. Only Newy Paddler club members will be eligible to win the MCC Perpetual Trophy
7. The winner of the MCC Perpetual Trophy will be the NP club member who has won their division, achieved the most PBs, attended the most races and if that is equal by secret ballot by the committee members.
