About this Event
? Level up your product management skills

Our incredible conference, MTP Engage, returns to Hamburg for the first time since 2019 on 17 June 2022. In addition to that, we're offering a day of amazing pre-con workshops on 16 June, enabling you to deep-dive into some new skills.

You’ll be able to choose from one of the following sessions, led by true experts in the field:

  • Product Discovery (with Tim Herbig)
  • Radical Focus: Accomplish Big Goals with Objectives and Key Results (with Christina Wodtke)

Pick the workshop you're interested in and buy your ticket - be quick as there are very limited spaces for each workshop to ensure the best possible learning experience! As the workshops are run in parallel you can only attend one of them.

? Workshop + Conference = Separate Tickets

You should, of course, also join us at the conference the day after these workshops but tickets are completely separate. Conference tickets DO NOT give you access to workshops, nor do workshop tickets give you access to the conference. Get your conference ticket here.

⚠ Entrance Requirements

This is a 2G+event and all attendees will need to adhere to strict rules to gain entry. Due to current circumstances, the event is subject to change - we will communicate all high-impact changes directly with our ticket holders but please refer to our event FAQs for the most up-to-date information before purchasing your ticket.

Radical Focus: Accomplish Big Goals with Objectives and Key Results (with Christina Wodtke)

OKRs are a powerful framework to empower teams by focusing on outcomes rather than outputs. They help teams move quickly and independently to achieve the company vision. Done poorly, they can demotivate and lead to micromanaging, but done well they give you the kind of scale, agility and success you dream of.

In this hands-on workshop, we'll cover:

  • How to set good goals
  • How to work with company goals, aligning department work up
  • How to align tasks to goals
  • Why pipelines beat roadmaps
  • How to set a rhythm of execution
  • How to build a culture of learning rather than a culture of blaming

Christina will demonstrate how she uses the Radical Focus approach to OKRs to help teams tackle and realize big goals in a methodical way, leaving nothing to chance. You’ll learn the beauty of a good fail and how regular check-ins can keep you on track to success.

Product Discovery (with Tim Herbig)

Product Discovery is more than asking the right questions in a user interview. Most teams should focus on framing their strategic intent first before thinking about customer interactions at all. That’s why a cookie-cutter approach rarely helps product teams to make real progress. Ticking off individual tasks like “talking to customers every week” might make you feel good but can quickly lead to solving problems because they exist — But not because they matter.

After the workshop, you will be able to:

  • Frame your Product Discovery through Strategy, OKRs, and Product Roadmaps to identify and prioritize the right Problem Space
  • Articulate research intent to choose and combine the proper research techniques for your problem with a short lead time to insight
  • Connect insights, solutions, and experiments to overarching business goals through Impact Mapping
  • Develop a structure for testing generated ideas to enable evidence-informed decision-making

Who should Attend

  • (Senior) Product Managers who want to go beyond measuring efficiency through Story Points and Velocity.
  • Heads of Product and VPs of Product who are looking for a new perspective on enabling their product teams.
  • UX Designers who want to participate in user-centered discussions beyond wireframes and pixels.
  • Product Ops Managers, Agile Coaches, and Scrum Masters who want to support product teams beyond Scrum rituals.
  • Engineers who want to engage in Product Discovery before it's time to start talking about solutions.

About your Trainer

Tim Herbig, Product Management Coach

Tim Herbig is working as a Product Management Coach with product managers and teams worldwide to connect the dots through empathy and structure. By introducing confidence and skills to their way of working, he ensures that they can and want to own their Product Strategy, Goals, and Product Discovery.

Thereby, they don’t pick techniques and techniques for the sake of it but to make progress. And they don‘t just progress for the sake of it but to achieve meaningful goals through self-determined learning.

He worked in various in-house and consulting roles as a Product Manager and Head of Product for more than ten years. He constantly challenged himself to make an evidence-informed way of working in publishing, professional networking, and building Enterprise-level SaaS applications. He knows what it takes to balance large-scale product iterations with the scrappiness of a pre-Product-Market-Fit state.
