Hey teens, let's hit the trails and conquer Mt. Tam together on this awesome hike down to Stinson Beach for some fun!
About this Event

Welcome to the Mt. Tam Teen Hike! Get ready for an awesome adventure on Tues, June 25, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Mount Tamalpais State Park. This hike starts at Pantoll Ranger Station and ends at Stinson Beach (4.5 miles). We hike down, break for time at the beach, and then shuttle back to Pantoll before we make our way back to Good Earth in MV. Join us for a fun day of hiking, exploring nature, and making new friends. This event is perfect for teens who love the outdoors and want to experience the beauty of Mt. Tam. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to connect with nature and have a great time with fellow teens!

Details:

  1. Age group 15 - 18 years old (high school)
  2. Moderate hike, mostly down hill, with a few uphill parts through shade/sun (4.5 miles total).
  3. Beautiful views, lots of breaks, time to hang on the beach and to get snacks/lunch
  4. Fun, supportive, healthy environment for teens to connect off their phones and be in nature with an experienced guide/hiker/mom (my daughter Gigi is 16 and will be on the hikes as well).
  5. Parents feel free to join! The more, the merrier :)

Why teen hikes?

I've found after many years of hiking the trails around Mt. Tam that being in nature and walking tends to elicit some great chats with my daughter. There's something very bonding and freeing for kids as they walk together, outside of school, sports and family, where they feel comfortable communicating in a very authentic and genuine way. I hear from moms all the time in my friend group, how they are having a challenging time and/or trouble bonding with their teens. Hiking is a great way to get them to open up, feel safe talking about life, plans, goals, thoughts, while allowing them to disconnect from electronics/phones! My daughter and I have found these times so enriching and fun! It's even better when there's a group of teens I'm leading as they get a chance to make new friends :)
