Mount Rolleston Trip Overview Trip leader: Adam
Grade: 2/2+
Limited to 5 particpants
Itinerary: Friday evening - convene at suitable location and car pool to Arthur’s Pass, staying at the club lodge.
Saturday- early start, up Rolleston (route depending on conditions and group capability), down Otira Slide and back to Christchurch if not too late.
Previous experience required: Confidence walking in hard snow in crampons with an ice axe and scrambling on rocky terrain. Grade 2.
NZAC Intermediate Snowcraft or equivalent with lots of experience above the snowline on steep terrain.
Be capable of moving for 8+ hours with minimal stops.
Gear required: Clothing and gear for all weather conditions. Own food and water. Make sure you have:
Sunhat/cap
warm hat
Sunglasses/snow goggles
Insulation and waterproof layers for top and bottom
Waterproof insulated gloves
Waterproof, stiff soled boots
ice axe - two tools
crampons
helmet
Harness
Avalanche kit
