Do you have what it takes to get to Point Lenana (4985m) in a day? This is for avid and experienced hikers who are fit and can acclimatize quickly. The distance is about 30km, 15 km each way with an elevation gain of 2000m and a loss of the same. It involves trekking through the scenic Mackinders' Trail.The hike starts at Naromoru gate with a 9 km drive through the forest to Met. Station, the climbing base for the route. The walk begins here with an 11 km hike to Mackinders Camp and a 4km hike to Point Lenana passing by the Austrian Hut. The latest time to be at Point Lenana is 1 p.m. which is also the turn back time to avoid getting caught in the dark.

03:00 a.m : Arrival at Naromoru Gate
4:00 a.m : Check in.
4:30 a.m : Hike Begins at Met Station
9:00 a.m : First Break at Teleki Lodge
12:00 : Summit Point Lenana
1:00 p.m : Descend begins
6:00 p.m : Arrival at Met Station (Clean up, meal and warm down)
8:00 p.m : Departure for Nairobi
12:00 Midnight : Arrival in Nairobi.
