Green Flamingos Tailgate: Spartans vs. Buckeyes – Oktoberfest, Football, and Some Hope!Alright Green Flamingos, we’re back at it this Saturday, September 28th, when our Michigan State Spartans take on the Ohio State Buckeyes at 7:30 PM. Now, we know OSU isn’t exactly our number one rival (you know who that is), but this game still packs a punch. Before the Spartans take the field, we’re kicking things off with our Oktoberfest tailgate starting at 11 AM!
Now, what does Oktoberfest have to do with football? Well, maybe nothing… but Columbus does have a big German population, and we’re just rolling with it. So, pull on your lederhosen, grab a stein, and let’s tailgate like true Spartans. There’s nothing like a few brats and beers to take the edge off facing the Buckeyes. Because let’s be real—we’re probably gonna need it.
Let’s Talk Football… and Expectations:
This season seems to be rolling in the right direction after starting off with so many unknowns. Sure, we came up short against Boston College last week, but there were some bright spots. The offense is still finding its groove, and our defense is doing everything it can to hold the line. We might not be rolling into this one with high expectations, but crazier things have happened on a Saturday night in East Lansing, right?
Ohio State? Yeah, they’re good—really good. But if we’re going to pull off an upset, this is the time. No one’s betting on us, and sometimes, that’s when the magic happens. So while we’re not exactly holding our breath for a win, there’s always a chance the Buckeyes slip up. And if that happens, we’ll be ready to celebrate.
Oktoberfest Tailgate Vibes:
The Myers crew are out this week so no speaker, but also no Rob on the mic! (Is that good? Is that bad? You be the judge.) The Hildebrands, Hoseys, and RoJo are ready to host a German themed celebration with you all.
We’re serving up brats, currywurst, pretzels, spaetzle, and all the Oktoberfest classics (yes, there will be beer). It might not be a victory celebration just yet, but we’ll eat like winners regardless. Throw on your best Oktoberfest gear, and join us!
Weather Forecast for East Lansing:
Tailgate (11 AM): We’re looking at a crisp 60°F to kick things off, with sunshine to keep us warm. Perfect weather for grilling and tossing back a few beers while pretending we’re in Munich.
Game Time (7:30 PM): Expect a cool 65°F with partly cloudy skies as we settle in to watch the Spartans take on the Buckeyes. Bring a jacket—and maybe a little extra faith, just in case we need it.
So whether you’re here for the football, the food, or just the Oktoberfest fun, this tailgate is one you don’t want to miss. Let’s cheer on our Spartans and hold out hope for a little Saturday night magic.
GO GREEN!
