Our next concert is less than 3 months away, on 22nd November at 7.30pm!We are delighted to perform the following pieces for you:
- Hensel - Overture in C Major.
- Mozart - Horn concerto No. 4 - soloist Richard Wainwright
- Beethoven - Symphony No. 6 (Pastorale)
In this post, a little about our Overture:
Fanny Hensel (Born Fanny Cäcilie Mendelssohn), shown below, composed over 450 works. Her Overture in C Major was her only overture and her only work for orchestra alone.
As the older sister of the better known Felix Mendelssohn, her works are performed more rarely so we are proud to open our concert with this special overture, which laid undiscovered for more than 100 years after her death in 1847.
