We’re excited to announce a new series at Tar Banks Brewing that honors community members who have made a lasting impact on Franklin County. Our first tribute will recognize Mrs. Edith Anderson, a true pioneer. In 1968, she became the first African-American teacher employed in the newly integrated Franklin County schools. Over her 34 years in the classroom, she inspired countless students through her love of music and her dedication as a chorus teacher.
On April 18, 2026, we’ll be celebrating the life and legacy of Mrs. Anderson here at the brewery, and we would love to welcome as many of her former students as possible.
Please help us spread the word as we honor a remarkable woman who helped shape our community. 💛🎶
