Malaco Recording Artist Castro Coleman, known as Mr. Sipp, was born August 25, 1976 in McComb, Mississippi. Picking up the guitar at age six, he grew into a powerhouse of Delta Blues, admired for his vocals, songwriting, musicianship, record production, and electrifying live shows. A God-fearing family man, he has earned over 125 recording credits, played on more than 50 national projects (including several Grammy-nominated works), and continues to travel the world sharing his gift. His accolades are extensive: 2014 International Blues Challenge Winner, Gibson Best Guitarist, and Bobby Rush Entertainer of the Year; multiple Jackson Music Awards in 2015; the BMA Best New Artist Album and Spirit of Little Walter Award in 2016; Best Blues Album in 2017; and National Blues Artist of the Year in 2018. He’s also appeared on screen, portraying B.B. King in CMT’s Sun Records, contributing to Get on Up, and performing in Texas Red. With a foundation of 25 years in gospel music before making his blues debut in 2014 with It’s My Guitar, he’s since released acclaimed albums like The Mississippi Blues Child, Knock a Hole In It, and Sippnotized. His global tours span Europe, South America, and beyond. Most recently, he won a 2024 Grammy with the Count Basie Orchestra (Basie Swings the Blues) and the 2025 B.B. King Entertainer of the Year Award. Going into 2025, Mr. Sipp stands as one of the top performers in Blues and Roots music—a true force and a must for any festival.
