Conducted by Grammy-nominated Alastair Willis, the concert opens with Mozart’s Abduction from the Seraglio Overture. Renowned horn player Sarah Willis then takes center stage to perform Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 3, showcasing brilliance, warmth, and technical mastery.
The second half brings a burst of color and energy as the orchestra explores Latin and Cuban influences. Stravinsky’s Pulcinella Suite is paired with well-loved pieces such as El Bodeguero, Dos Gardenias, and El Manisero. The highlight of the evening is Rondo alla Mambo, a joyful and imaginative work that playfully imagines how Mozart might have composed had he been inspired by Havana’s rhythms.
