Mozart is perhaps the most famous child prodigy in all of music history. But, both the Mendelssohns were also precocious and wrote masterworks early in their young musical lives. Fanny Mendelssohn was a virtuoso pianist, said to have memorized Bach’s Well Tempered Klavier in its entirety by age 13. In her 42 years of life, she composed nearly 500 works. In this program, her String Quartet, written at age 29, will complement Mozart’s delightful Piano Quartet in Eb Major.
