Moving Voices is Southampton’s longest-running open mic, held in the unique setting of a converted train station waiting room. It’s a brave space and a safer space - welcoming, intimate, and fiercely inclusive. Whether you're taking the mic for the first time or experimenting with something new, you'll find a small but mighty audience ready to cheer you on. Open mic slots are 5 minutes, with two 10 minute slots available - sign up on the night from 7pm.
Come as you are, share what you’ve got - poems, songs, stories, or something in between.
Booking is highly advised as the venue is small and the event is popular!
About our host:
Jez Franck (they/he) is a poet, artist and activist who writes poetry rich in symbolism and magic.
About our special guest:
Devin Jay Valentine (he/him) is a musician, activist and luthier. Former bassist with queer punk outfit Hunting Hearts, he’s now stepping out solo with raw DIY energy and sharp, unflinching songs about the state of the world and transgender rights. Expect unexpected textures, including an arpeggione he built himself, along with the grit and heart of someone who means every word.
