// Outdoor interactive sound-walk //This workshop aims to introduce participants to the main principles of sound, in an intuitive, immersive and playful way through a sound-walk with listening examples and exercises. We will take a walk with a GPS-activated device that will allow the group to interact with the sound environment to learn about: sound basic principles and terminologies, psychoacoustics, acoustic ecology and soundscape studies.
We will cover the topics:
· Hearing and acoustic space
· Frequency spectrum
· Sound propagation
· Acoustic phenomena: phasing, Doppler shift, resonance
· Spatial effects: phasing, echo and feedback
· Principles of modulation and sound synthesis
· Principles of soundscape composition
At the same time, we will discuss all these sonic characteristics as a means for a compositional language for pop, electronic and experimental music.
The workshop will take place outdoors. The participants will walk, and we will have time for a discussion at the end. Social distancing and health regulations will be taken into consideration.
Bio Artist:
Ale Hop (Alejandra Luciana Cardenas), a Berlin-based artist, researcher, and experimental electronic musician from Peru. Her body of work includes live shows, record releases, sound and multimedia pieces, and research on sound and technology. She obtained her BA in Art History, an MA in Sound Studies from Berlin University of the Arts and is also co-curator of the festival Radical Sounds Latin America and editor of the publication Border-Listening/Escucha-liminal.
