The moving meditation course is held in English, guided by Hsuan, from the heart, with words, images and moving invitations.
“What is it like to move with and as elements of the earth?
What do the rocks, stones, soil and clay tell us?
How do their forms, textures, qualities and nature inform and inspire us in our moving experience?”
In this workshop we work with seeing, touching and feeling the earth elements, allowing what is felt through our senses to guide us into moving meditation. We explore the characteristics of earth elements through our bodies, moving away from human-centred thinking and instead connect with the natural elements in our bodies. This is a moving meditation that brings us closer to nature by recognising the nature in us.
We begin with a grounding practice, arriving here and now,
then we explore the theme of the day.
There is always time in the end for reflection, contemplation or sharing.
Some more guidelines:
In the course
you are invited to move from what feels right to you,
taking care of what is needed right now.
It is a time for listening to your own moving desires,
or wish of pausing and being still,
by trusting your own intuition.
Everyone is different, in each of our own processes.
You are always right in your own experience.
Here we share the space,
going on our own moving journeys,
opening and being inspired by new landscapes,
finding our own treasures.
Whatever emerges on the path,
you are welcome to share it with others,
or take time for yourself just to be with ‘it’.
The journey is within ourselves,
through our moving experiences,
meeting ourselves,
again and again.
About Hsuang:
“I have been practising Qigong for over 15 years. I studied with a Qigong master in Taiwan, who I consider to this day my spiritual guide. It was through Qigong that I began to dance. I was moved by the energy that opened up in me and was eager to understand the “dance” that was coming out of me by continuing to “dance”. I decided to go to dance school when I was 26, at the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance where I trained in modern dance techniques and presented works that I co-created with other dance artists.
In those dancing years, I became more and more interested in somatics – how can we move from what we experience personally, from what is authentic for us at the moment, and not from someone else’s (for example, a choreographer’s) design? How can we move and dance with what we experience in life, from moment to moment, with all the joys and sorrows, with all the surprises and mysteries that we encounter in life? And how do we learn about, transform and express ourselves through meeting ourselves again and again in movement and dance?
These questions accompanied me in studying further at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and at Independent Dance, where I met and practised somatic techniques such as Skinner Releasing Technique™, Feldenkrais Method®, Body-Mind Centering®, and Authentic Movement. And throughout the time, Qigong has been the practice that stayed with me as my base practice. I felt home, these practices were naturally integrated into my creative process of both movement research and in my practice of teaching. ”
