Our speaker says:

My name is Susan Kinniburgh I have worked in the health and social care sector for over 30 years beginning my career back in the 90’s as a Support Worker, working my way to senior management positions which i had occupied during the last 14 years. It’s been my privilege to meet and help support many different people during that time.
I have a Psychology degree, a practitioner qualification in Emotional Intelligence and Personality Trait Profiling. I have a qualification in Trauma Informed Counseling. Currently I am training to be a Practitioner in Emotional Freedom Tapping (EFT) which sits in the field of Energy Psychology.
Perhaps more importantly I have lived experience of Trauma through 20 years of domestic abuse and through the loss of my son in 2022 aged 21 years old. He had experienced significant learning and physical disabilities throughout his life and his passing was devastating.
It was after this loss that I began my journey of understanding my trauma, why it showed up, how it presented itself and most importantly what i could do about it.
It was my observation that those already disempowered through trauma were further disempowered by systems that offered to treat the symptom and not the cause. Those same people are put on waiting lists for talking therapies with no immediate hope or relief from their trauma symptoms.
What if we could do more for ourselves? What if our trauma could be explained to us in ways that we understood. What if we could learn to look at our symptoms differently and take more control of them.
This is where the Moving Forward from Trauma programme was created.
