Upon her release from an asylum, convicted axe-murderer Lucy Harbin (Joan Crawford) reconnects with her grown daughter Carol (Diane Baker). Their relationship is strained because Carol witnessed her mother M**der her adulterous husband, Carol’s father. Soon Lucy’s past life rears its ugly head as the people around them turn up hacked to death.
