Are you ready to join the crew of the Black Pearl? Whether you're a landlubber or a salty old sea dog you're invited to watch this swashbuckling classic from the port of Mabry's Hill on Friday, September 5th. Strike up the sails and drink up, me hearties for a fun night at the museum. Admission is FREE and will include fun activities (TBA) for buccaneers of all ages! The house museum will open at 7p and movie begins at sundown ~8pm. We'll have brief presentation of a history of pirates from a UT History Dept. professor at 7:45p.
Visitors are encouraged to dress up! We'd love to see your best pirate-y best! Prizes for best costumes.
This event is part of the Historic House Museums of Knoxville's Movies at the Museums; a collaborative event showing 3 different movies, at 3 different museum on the first 3 Fridays of September!
Enjoy three different movies outdoors at three different historic house museums, from pirate adventures to epic fantasy worlds, to heart-racing car-fueled action, while basking in the unique landscapes and history of each historic site.
From rousing, supernatural escapades and fantasy lands to silly animation and fast-paced action, each historic house museum will show a different film for audiences to enjoy while also taking in the unique landscapes of the historic site.
Admission is FREE for each movie, but donations are greatly appreciated to support each museum’s preservation mission. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets, or other
items to make their time there comfortable. Concessions will be available at each museum. Arrive early to visit the museums, learn from a local scholar about historical topics related to the film, and watch a special featurette of local home movies by the Tennessee Archive of Moving Images & Sound (TAMIS).
Please see each individual museum's respective event pages for more details on the movies, concessions, and any special activities happening at their site!
Grounds open at 6:00 pm and movies begin at dusk (~8:15pm, movie start times are not exact). Locations change for each movie, so be sure to check the exact address for each house museum.
Dogs are allowed, but must be on leash at all times. In case of inclement weather, a rain plan will be posted on the museum's event page and social media outlets.
