In this season of division in our country, often in the name of faith, we seek to learn, understand, build bridges, and work to overcome the influence of white supremacy on our faith. Join this interfaith group for:
The Role of White Supremacy in American Christianity:
a presentation and discussion in Remembrance of the Lynching of Joseph McCoy
Featuring the film God + Country and speakers Rev. Rob Schenk, Rev. Quardricos Driskell & Rev. Charles Watson Jr. (invited), Dr. Sabrina Dent (invited)
Organized and sponsored by Alexandria’s Faith Community in Remembrance of Joseph McCoy.
Congregants from Alexandria’s faith community will join together on Sunday, April 21 at 3 p.m. at the Virginia Theological Seminary’s Lettie Pate Evans Room to explore the history of White Supremacy and the role it plays in American religion and culture. The 90-minute event will feature segments from the documentary, God + Country, followed by discussion to probe further into the issue. Participants will be given access to view the film on their own time following the program.
Hope UCC is a co-sponsor of the event and we hope all members and friends of Hope UCC make plans to attend!
