The Fauquier History Museum at the Old Jail announces the completion of a new introductory film for museum visitors. The six-minute film introduces guests to the 200 year history of the 1823 jail building by providing a portrayal of those incarcerated in the Fauquier County jail. The film tells the stories of real Fauquier prisoners, their crimes and why they ended up in prison. The film was written, produced and directed by Hillmann & Carr of Washington D. C. and took over a year of work. Along with the film, two cells in the 1823 jail will become more of an “experience” than an exhibit of objects in glass cases. Today, visitors can see, feel, and smell what it is like to be in jail. One cell has been fashioned to look as close as possible to its 1823 appearance and a second cell displays the dramatic contract one hundred years later, around 1923.
The community is invited to view the film in its new theater room on Friday, July 12th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at 10 Ashby Street, Warrenton (next to the old Courthouse).
