Our next Movie Night will be featuring a screening of Miracles: The Canton Godfather (奇蹟). This is a free showing that is open to the public.
This 1989 action-comedy crime film is both directed by and stars Jackie Chan, and it is set in 1930s Hong Kong. The movie is adapted from Frank Capra’s Lady for a Day (1933) and Pocketful of Miracles (1961).
Miracles showcases many well-known Hong Kong actors and actresses, including Wu Ma and Anita Mui. The film is regarded as one of Jackie Chan’s most sophisticated directorial efforts.
We will watch the movie in Meeting Room B at the Beaverton City Library. Outside food and snacks are allowed. The first 30 minutes will be dedicated to socializing and setting up. We will start the movie at approximately 4:00 pm. The film will be shown in Cantonese with English subtitles.
