Once a month at The Hub on Canal in New Smyrna, Paul Marino hosts a film night. He has interesting insights into the history of the film and encourages viewers' comments. The $10 admission fee includes a dinner buffet, a chocolate treat and a raffle. Wine, beer and water are available for a nominal fee.On Friday, August 15, from 5:30 until about 9, he will be screening the 1998 dramedy "The Truman Show. " It stars Jim Carrey but is not slapstick and shows off his great acting skills. Truman, unbeknownst to him, is the star of a 24/7/365 reality television show broadcast internationally. His entire world, the city he lives in, his job, his home, are all set in an enormous sound stage.
I'm planning on going and welcome y'all to join.
Oh - one drawback - the chairs are standard metal folding chairs so you may want to bring a cushion.
It's a fun event. Hope you can come.
