Happy New Year! We're kicking off 2026 with our January movie night. We'll be watching the 2000 documentary _Rebels With a Cause_, which is about the original Students for a Democratic Society (SDS). SDS was one of the leading activist groups of the 1960s, and was involved in most of the major struggles of the decade including the Civil Rights Movement and opposing the Vietnam War. The film includes interviews with many prominent SDS activists, including Tom Hayden, Bill Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, and Carl Davidson. Davidson was a leader of the University of Nebraska's SDS chapter. (Yes, UNL had an SDS chapter!)
Discussion will follow the film.
As always, our events are free and open to the public. The Black Cat House welcomes all ages, and is a drug and alcohol-free venue. To help keep everyone safe and healthy, we ask that all guests wear face masks in our space. We are wheelchair accessible.
