Join Movie Loft in September for the 9th meet-up of the Harry Dean Stanton Appreciation Society, a screening series featuring some perhaps lesser-encountered movies that included the one and only HDS! Working off Roger Ebert's “Stanton-Walsh” rule, which states that any movie that features M. Emmet Walsh or Harry Dean Stanton, however briefly, cannot be all bad, we'll put this rule to the test once a month in 2024!'Ride in the Whirlwind' was one of two 1966 Westerns ('The Shooting' being the other) shot in Utah by director Monte Hellman ('Cockfighter', 'Two-Lane Blacktop', etc.) for Roger Corman, back-to-back. The two pictures shared many cast members, including Jack Nicholson (who also wrote and co-produced) and Millie Perkins, but only the one featured our beloved Harry Dean (here billed as Dean Stanton), playing the gang leader Blind Dick. It's a broody tale of mistaken identity, posse vigilantism and cowboy existentialism. Saddle up and "Ride with the Easy Rider into an action whirlwind"!
