Calling all cool cats and “meow”-vie lovers! Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, the acclaimed cinema eatery, is opening its first Chicago location in Wrigleyville this fall. To celebrate its arrival and 25th anniversary, Alamo Drafthouse is hosting screenings of THE LION KING (1994) and CATS (2019) at Lincoln Park Zoo!General Admission ($15) includes:
- An interactive screening of the 2019 musical CATS outside at the zoo, as only the Alamo Drafthouse can do it, complete with pre-show, movie props and fun surprises*
- Movie giveaways
- A DJ playing movie-themed tunes
- Animal chats, lawn games, and free rides on the AT&T Endangered Species Carousel and Lionel Train Adventure
- Broadway in Chicago will be on-site with giveaways and TWO pairs of tickets to see THE LION KING live at the Cadillac Palace Theatre
- A chance to preview Video Vortex, Alamo Drafthouse's on-site bar, where movie lovers can bask in the retro ambiance of VHS tapes and DVDs--all actually available for rent (with players!)
KING OF THE JUNGLE ticket* ($30) includes:
- All elements of General Admission (note: if you see THE LION KING, you will just catch the tail end of CATS) plus:
-Alamo Drafthouse’s THE LION KING Family Party in Pepper Family Wildlife Center! Watch Disney’s classic 1994 film next to a real pride of lions, complete with cub
- Experience an Alamo Drafthouse Family Party with themed crafts, face painting, and goodies for the kids
*limited quantity available on first-come, first-serve basis
Tickets:
- Tickets are $15 for General Admission.
- Tickets are $30 for KING OF THE JUNGLE admission, which includes THE LION KING screening. VIP tickets are limited.
All tickets include entry to the zoo starting at 6 p.m. plus entry to all open zoo buildings except Pepper Family Wildlife Center. Only guests with KING OF THE JUNGLE tickets will be able to enter Pepper Family Wildlife Center.
Please note that movie run times will overlap. If you purchase KING OF THE JUNGLE tickets for THE LION KING you will only be able to catch the tail end of CATS.
All guests must have a ticket, regardless of age.
This is an all-ages event.
