Join us for a cozy movie night at Happy Feet Studio, where we’ll be screening the cult classic short film “Go Down, Death!” from 1944 🎬✨
The film is a fascinating (and slightly quirky) glimpse into how African American culture, music, and movement were portrayed in the 1940s. It also has a very nice scene with a Lindy Hop couple dancing! Watching the film can help us reflect on where swing dance comes from and what that means for us as dancers today.
We’ll provide popcorn and after the screening there will be time for an informal discussion of the film in the context of swing dance, jazz history, and our own dance practice today.
A relaxed evening for curious dancers, film lovers, and history nerds alike — it is free and everyone is welcome 💛
