Class Experience
We’re making animated movies and music from our favorite stories in this hands-on week of creative fun. We’ll create hand-made instruments like a beatbox, a fruit piano, an electric guitar, and a Dance Dance Revolution dancing mat with Makey Makey and Scratch coding. We’ll draw our own animated movies, we’re using original music and pixel animations with Scratch Coding and Piskel! We’ll craft an original thaumatrope that demonstrates how the first “moving pictures” were made. We’ll remake and record our own versions of our favorite movie songs like Let It Go! from Frozen, You Have a Friend in Me from Toy Story, I’m a Believer from Shrek, and Everything is Awesome from LEGO Movie! We’ll hack our headphones with Micro:bit MakeCode and build string instruments, drums, maracas and a harmonica so the band can keep the beat. And we’ll make giant billboard charts to show off our movies and music, timed to Redstone Minecraft beats. We are gonna rock so let the cameras roll!
All About Hands-On
Every day of STEM Camp brings new hands-on STEAM projects, creativity, discovery, games, and lots of outdoor play! Every week of STEM Camp features hands-on STEAM crafts and introductions/skill-building in Scratch coding and 3D design. Games include: Capture the Flag Laser Tag, Water Balloon Olympics, soccer shootout, mafia, escape the room, red light green light, Scavenger Hunts!
Your Favorite Characters & Stories
We’ll create daily projects inspired by our favorite characters and stories from Disney, Lego, Marvel, and Pixar and games like Pokemon, Mario, Bed Wars, Geometry Dash, Animal Crossing, and Among Us. And we’ll create lifetime memories with our daily camp traditions like DJ Playlist Day, Rainbow True Colors Day, and Hero Day.
Earn Badges & Challenge Coins
We’ll take on daily Quest Challenges by joining Team Fiero or Team Flow, seeking our personal best, with help from new friends. We’ll work on the hero within as we earn Challenge sticker badge achievements for our Character Cards for every project we create like Courage, Problem Solver, Upstander and Changemaker.
Learn & Grow
Creative collaboration gives us opportunities for social emotional development and confidence building. Project problem-solving helps us practice executive functioning skills like decision-making, organization, patience, and self-awareness. (STEAM: science, tech, engineering, arts, math)
