Movement Practice
How do we explain something which is not well captured in words?
Many ask, “What is movement practice?” - and the answer is not always straightforward.
It’s about movement, yes, but also about how we relate to learning, to process, environment, and to the body itself.
In our classes, we work with movement projects, where multiple movement subjects are explored simultaneously. Instead of refining one specific technique or skill, we aim to widening the scope of our practice - to explore, to question, and deepen our relationship to the bigger picture of movement.
Student - Teacher
We see the role between teacher and student as something deeply intertwined - it’s a relationship that needs to be cultivated. However, In today’s training culture, we think this dynamic is often overlooked, but for us it’s a central part of the learning process. We aim to share what it means to be a student in our setting and how to cultivate a student mindset.
Movement class
The goal of a movement class is to develop a wide range of general movement qualities and attributes, such as - strength, mobility, coordination, movement intelligence, hand balancing, and expressiveness.
To achieve this, we use a variety of tools and methods, including:
• Partner work
• Strength & mobility training
• Physical challenges
• Play & games
• Stillness practices
In the classes we aim to meet each student at their own level. Through individualized guidance within the group setting, as the next progression is introduced we gradually set a clearer path for each student towards their goals and foster greater self reliance and autonomy within the practice.
