About this Event
Join Trapped in Zone One for a Move and Sketch (Females Only) at the Barbican Centre. We'll be exploring The Barbican Conservatory, one of London’s hidden gems – a giant botanical garden in the middle of the sprawling Barbican complex.
The Barbican is a huge complex of striking Brutalist architecture in the City of London, with the Barbican Conservatory being the second biggest conservatory in London, after Kew Gardens and now Barbican Conservatory houses around 1,500 species of plants and trees, some of which are rare and endangered in their native habitat.
Everything from palm trees to banana plants can be found within the glass walls of the Barbican Conservatory. Colourful koi carp fill the fishponds, which makes a walk over the wooden bridges a peaceful jaunt for the more casual explorer.
The aim of our activity is to improve confidence of females in walking on a more regular basis, boost mental wellbeing and give participants safe opportunities for social interaction. By hosting this session will aim to merge creative medium of sketching on the move engaging with participants, who are often inactive, make physical activity part of their daily routine exploring greenspaces.
