Through this bold style of Asian brushwork, you will create spontaneous landscapes that come alive on the paper. All level artists, welcome!
About this Event

Join Seth Taylor for a two-hour adult workshop focusing on Mountain and Water Painting, a bold style of Asian brushwork utilizing delicate ink gradients to create paintings inspired by the beauty of the natural world.

Arising in Asian antiquity, Mountain and Water painting has challenged artists for thousands of years. With little more than a brush, ink and a sheet of paper you can create spontaneous landscapes that come alive on the paper.

In this workshop, we will complete a short survey of Mountain and Water painting to ground our discussion and exploration of this technique. Although Mountain and Water painting can take a life time to master, the tools and techniques are accessible to any level artist. We will learn to embrace our happy accidents, conquer our fear of a blank sheet of paper and bring our imaginations alive with ink.

The majority of our time will be spent putting brush to paper. All students will have the opportunity to create several paintings that will help the techniques sink in and go home with plenty of materials to continue their adventures in Mountain and Water painting.

This workshop takes place in downtown Sturgeon Bay, at the Miller Art Museum's new 3rd Avenue workshop space, M3. Your ticket includes a beginner painting supply kit, over a $25 value! With 100 pages of rice paper, your own brush, ink and felt pad in your kit, you'll be able to continue your exploration of Mountain and Water Painting long after the conclusion of the workshop.

Please secure your spot through Eventbrite, as a "Free" spot, and be sure to bring your payment with you to the event. Credit card, check and cash will be accepted.

Only 8 spots are available for this event, please sign up only if you are able to attend. This workshop is designed for participants 16 years of age and older. If plans change or you have additional questions please call our office at 920.746.0707 so that we may make arrangements.
