You may remember him from the epic 4hr debate with Norman Finkelstein, Izraeli new historian Benny Morris and streamer Destiny.

When people even academics discuss Palestine and its national movements, they usually start with Yasir Arafat and ignore the Palestinian national movements which came before and dealt with the Brits and the Zionists. Proposed a binational “one state solution” but were ignored and had to face the UN dictate of the partition plan, Nakba and lose of 80% of their land, which British diplomat Sir Orme Sargent called a “Middle East Munich”.

Mouin Rabbani will give us an overview of the historical context, origin, development, and current challenges and prospects of the Palestinian national movement.
Mouin Rabbani is a researcher, analyst, and commentator specialising in Palestinian affairs, the Arab-Israeli conflict, and the contemporary Middle East. He has among other positions served as Principal Political Affairs Officer with the Office of the UN Special Envoy for Syria, Head of Middle East with the Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation, Senior Middle East Analyst and Special Advisor on Israel-Palestine with the International Crisis Group, and Researcher with Al-Haq, West Bank affiliate of the International Commission of Jurists.

Rabbani is Co-Editor of Jadaliyya, where he also hosts the Connections podcast, co-hosts the Long Form Conversations podcast, and edits its Quick Thoughts feature. He is also Contributing Editor of Middle East Report.

Rabbani is Senior Non-Resident Fellow at the Middle East Council on Global Affairs Center, and Non-Resdent Fellow at both the Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies (CHS) and Democracy for the Arab World Now (DAWN).

A graduate of Tufts University and Georgetown University, Rabbani has published, presented and commented widely on Middle East issues, including for most major print, television and digital media.

He served as General Editor of Al-Haq’s landmark 1989 annual report, A Nation Under Siege. The author of numerous articles and opinion pieces, he has also co-authored or co-edited a number of books. His Gaza Apocalypse: Causes and Consequences, is forthcoming from OR Books.
