In 1964 two subcultures clashed at the UK seaside towns of Brighton, Hastings, Margate, and Clacton. The resulting “moral panic” created by the news paper reports of the time introduced the public to the scooter riding, anorak wearing “Mods”, and the leather-clad, motorcycle riding folk devils, the “Rockers”.
