Aim of this Event

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a well-established guiding framework rooted in a deep humanistic and client- centred tradition. This approach encourages a compassionate, non-judgemental and non-blaming ethos whilst collaboratively working with our clients to help them safely explore their concerns, especially when things seem to get "stuck" in regard to adaptive health behaviour change. As such, this approach, also challenges us as health professionals to work flexibly and to be open to addressing aspects of our own working style which might unwittingly be contributing to the ongoing challenges faced by clients

Target Audience

Clinicians working with complex patients, mental health, chronic pathologies. Anyone involved in change management of patient care; GP, NP, ACP, OT, Physio

Objectives

To explore the concept of motivation in the context of client work.
Be able to identify “stuck situations” and reflect on how we respond.
Become familiar with an an overview and background to MI.
To encourage you to embrace the spirit of MI.
Learn about the underlying processes in MI work.
To learn/ enhance core skills in MI.
To be able to reflect on how MI can fit in with your practice.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel with more than 5 working days' notice, there will be no charge.

If you cancel within 5 working days and we cannot fill the space, then you/your organisation will still be charged £45. If you do not cancel and do not attend then you/your organisation will be charged £45.

If you are leaving your organisation or you have a member of staff due to leave, it is your/your organisation's responsibility to inform NATH of this. This is to ensure that your place is cancelled with more than 5 working days before the event date, so your place will be freed up and you will not incur any costs. If NATH is not informed within 5 working days of the event date, then you/your organisation will be charged £45.

Please register with your nhs.net email where possible. If the event is oversubscribed, priority may be given to those who have registered with NHS addresses.
You will receive a certificate for your attendance. Please allow two weeks for this to be delivered to your inbox. We would advise checking your junk mail before contacting NATH for your certificate at [email protected]

This event is planned because respondents to the Nottinghamshire Alliance Training Hub (NATH) Primary Care Training Needs Analysis (TNA) 2024/25 suggested the topic as a local training need.
