About this Event
MI learners discover that the quality of the conversations they have with the people they serve get richer and more productive. Like learning a new language, using MI skills fluently is a life- long process that takes time and practice. This training offers a chance to start where you are and build your skills, confidence and fluency in a friendly, low-pressure environment.
This highly interactive, intermediate-level course is designed for people who are familiar with MI Spirit, OARS skills, Change Talk and the Fixing Reflex. Wherever you are in your MI journey, we will explore and practice skills that will add to your toolkit and make your MI interventions more authentic and conversational. If you are already a more advanced MI practitioner, you’ll be invited to focus on ways to add nuance to your responses, creating more impact as you help people change and grow.
Objectives:
- Introduce 5 lenses for looking at your MI practice.
- Analyze the difference between effective and ineffective interventions
- Identify your personal MI learning goal.
- Use your own real-world experiences for skills practice.
- Get peer coaching to set goals for ongoing progress in your practice.
Coffee, juice , muffins and pastries will be available starting at 9am.
A certificate of completion will be provided to all participants that complete the session. The certificate can be used to apply for CEUs for various disciples such as social work, peer certification and more.
