Join me for this Mostly Hermitage night, where all the reds will be Syrahs. 2 from Hermitage and one from WA state. The white wine starter will be a Hermitage Blanc. We will be dining at Tuscany Steakhouse for this 6 person dinner. They are located on W. 58th Street, between 6th and 7th Aves.
This will be a higher end Syrah night than next weeks similar event at Nice Matin.

NOTE: Meetup has started charging a "Partner Fee" that is above and in addition to the listed price of the event. It is annoying and confusing, but there is nothing I can do about it. It comes to approximately $6 more for each RSVP. You will see this charge when you complete your rsvp and pay for the event. Sorry! MEETUP+ members are exempt from this charge.
Just a reminder of our usual rules:
You will also have to pay the cost of your food (plus 33% for tax and tip). Please order at least two courses (i.e. a main dish and either appetizer or dessert) for your dinner.

The Wines (notes will be distributed at the dinner):
2020 Marc Sorrel Hermitage Blanc ($115) \- CT 92\, JD 95 points\, "The classic 2020 Hermitage Blanc from Sorrel is 100% Marsanne aged 18 months in barrel\. It reveals a light gold hue as well as beautiful aromatics of ripe quince\, toasted almonds\, minty herbs\, and spices\. Beautifully balanced on the palate\, this medium to full\-bodied effort has flawless balance\, a focused\, elegant\, yet powerful mouthfeel\, and a great finish\. Count me impressed – I'd be a buyer\."
1990 M. Chapoutier Hermitage La Sizeranne ($80) \- CT 91\.4\, I purchased a case at auction a few years ago and I have 2 bottles left\. Older bottles are always a crapshoot\, but my last bottle was very good \(September 2025 and I gave it 93 points\)\. It does have lots of sediment\, so we will probably need to swap out the glasses after this one\!
2020 Marc Sorrel Hermitage Cuvée Classique ($120)\- I wanted to pour out the even more exclusive Le Greal from this producer\, but I don't think the Le Greal is ready to drink yet\. So we will have this one instead\. WA \(92\-95 barrel sample\) points\, "Chiefly \(90%\) from Les Plantiers—a little\-known lieu\-dit toward the western base of the slope—with about 10% Les Bessards\, Sorrel's 2020 Hermitage looks like its customary supple\, silky self\, with masses of raspberry fruit\, ample weight and richness and a long\, elegant finish\. It should drink well soon after release and evolve well for more than a decade\."
2021 Force Majeure Syrah SJR Vineyard ($120) \- JD 98 points\, "From a fabulous site owned by the Delmas team\, the 2021 Syrah SJR Vineyard is 100% Syrah that was brought up all in larger\, used barrels\. This saturated purple\-hued beauty offers up a magical perfume of bloody blue fruits\, iron\, smoked meats\, and a Graves\-like cold fireplace character\. With full\-bodied richness\, moderate acidity\, and a layered\, seamless mouthfeel\, this riveting\, singular Syrah benefits from a decant and\, I suspect\, will evolve gracefully for at least 15 years\. This is just about pure perfection and one of the finest Syrahs in the vintage\. \(Drink between 2024\-2039\)"
