MORT'S FEST 2025

Mort’s Fest is a mostly-annual benefit event that we have produced at Moriarty’s Pub in downtown Lansing since 2016. Our goal is to bring together many of the area’s finest musicians and bands, who donate their time to perform, and entertain Lansing’s very hip music audience, all while raising money to benefit a worthy cause. In past years, the benefit has donated to Homeless Angels, the Capital Area Humane Society, and others.
For this year, we decided to up our game. Our benefit this year is dedicated to raising funds for hurricane relief in the Asheville, NC area. Asheville is a hotbed of music activity and is home to many musicians especially those working in the Americana and bluegrass genres. We are working directly with the charity Beloved Asheville https://www.belovedasheville.com/) which will receive the proceeds from the event.
To raise the stakes even further, we have engaged the master drummer Jeff Sipe, who is an Asheville area resident, to travel to Lansing and be a featured performer at the benefit. Jeff has a long resume going back to the 1980’s and has performed with legendary musicians such as Col. Bruce Hampton & the Aquarium Rescue Unit, Susan Tedeschi, Warren Haynes (Allman Brothers/Government Mule), Leftover Salmon, Jonas Hellborg & Shawn Lane, Keller Williams & the W.M.D.’s, Jeff Coffin (The Dave Matthews Band), the great John McLaughlin on the “Meeting of the Spirits” tour in 2017, the great Indian slide guitarist Debashish Bhattacharya, Jimmy Herring (Widespread Panic), Oteil Burbidge (Allman Bros/Dead & Co), Steve Vai, Trey Anastasio (Phish), Alex Machacek, and Drew Emmit, among many others. Jeff is also the
founder of the legendary Zambiland Orchestra.
Mr. Sipe will be featured in two sets during the event, with bands composed of some of the very best musicians in the mid-Michigan area. We will also host performances from some of the
area's most popular bands and musical artists.
Mort’s Fest 2025 will take place on Sunday, March 9, from 2-10pm, at Moriarty’s Pub, which is located at 802 E Michigan Ave, in downtown Lansing.
