NC Raga Revival is a monthly concert series showcasing the music and dance of the Indian diaspora and collaborations with other world music artists.

Artist Bios
Sandeep Hattangady has pursued Tabla for more than two decades, learning from eminent Tabla Gurus including Shri Prabhakar Betrabet, Ustad Shabbir Nisar and Pandit Mohan Balvalli. He has performed in India, UK and the United States, playing both solo and accompanying artists such as Pandit K Sridhar, Shri Anirban Dasgupta and Dr. M Narmadha among others. Based in Morrisville, Sandeep balances his musical interest in performing and teaching Tabla alongside his professional pursuits in the semiconductor industry. He has co-authored the book, TIHAAI, with his Guru Shri Prabhakar Betrabet for students of Tabla and music
VW Chitnis began learning Sitar at the age of 15. He received his training at the Ali Akbar College of Music under the guidance of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. He is the founder of North Carolina Raga Revival as well as a School of Rag Indian Music Academy located in Raleigh NC and Brooklyn NY.
He has received training on the Indian violin instruments, dilruba and esraj by the late Sarangi Maestro Pt Ramesh Misra. He lives in Raleigh NC with his wife Jill Taylor and daughter Nikhila Chitnis.
Deepak Kulkarni comes from the cradle of Hindustani classical music - Dharwad in Karnataka and developed a deep interest in music at a very young age. He is trained in both Harmonium and Tabla instruments. Deepak has received training in the Lucknow Gharana style from Shri Debasish Choudhuri. He is receiving advanced training in Harmonium from Pt Vyasmurti Katti. He has performed solo and has accompanied artists in the US as well as several visiting artists from India. As a promoter of classical music, he is actively involved in organizing concerts for the younger generation in his hometown of Dharwad. He also provides training for young artists interested in learning the nuances of Indian classical music.
Dr. Ajay Dholakia is a long-time Triangle resident. He comes from a family of Indian Hindustani Classical musicians and has been playing and teaching Tabla in the area for many years. He started learning tabla during his highschool days in Indore, India. He has played percussion and tabla with different rock, fusion and folk music bands. and has accompanied many visiting classical vocalists and instrumentalists. He continues his tabla journey at the Anindo Chatterjee School of Tabla.
