Ingen sosiale, økonomiske, politiske eller filosofiske problemer ville kunne løses, før vi hadde løst dødens problem, mente den russiske bibliotekaren og filosofen Nikolaj Fjodorov (1827-1903). I dokumentaren Morning Without Evening settes Fjodorovs liv og ideer i sammenheng med et samfunn preget av revolusjonære strømninger på den ene siden og tsarregimets brutale maktutøvelse på den andre. Filmen gir slik sett et innblikk i den historiske bakgrunnen for dagens ekspansive og voldelige regime, der tsar Nikolaj Is doktrine ”ortodoksi, autokrati og nasjonalitet” fortsatt er gyldig.Før visningen av filmen vil programassistent og masterstudent ved Screen Cultures Adam Buono Glazer holde en innledning. Etterpå blir det en samtale mellom ham og filmskaper Beate Petersen.

No social, economic, political or philosophical problems can be solved until we have solved the problem of death, said the Russian librarian and philosopher Nikolai Fjodorov (1827-1903). In the documentary Morning Without Evening, Fjodorov's life and ideas are put in context with a society characterized by revolutionary currents on the one hand and the tsarist regime's brutal exercise of power on the other. The film thus provides an insight into the historical background of today's expansive and violent regime, where Nicholas I of Russia's doctrine of "orthodoxy, autocracy and nationality" is still valid.
Before the screening of the film program assistant and master's student of Screen Cultures Adam Buono Glazer will give an introduction. Afterwards, there will be a conversation between him and filmmaker Beate Petersen.
