About this Event
The Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority is excited to announce our first Coyote Valley photo contest. As a part of the in-progress Coyote Valley Conservation Area Master Plan (CVCAMP) we’re looking for photos that reveal the many unique aspects of this important conservation landscape’s open spaces. What better place to capture these photos than at Spreckels Hill?
Photographer and docent Ron Horii will join us and give us pointers along the way! Ron will each tips and tricks for taking better outdoor and nature photographs and what to do with them. I'll also talk about cameras, including smartphones, and how to get the best out of them.
We will hike half a mile up to the top of Spreckels Hill to take in the 360-degree views of Coyote Valley and reflect on the significance of this special open space before heading back down the same way. Participantion is the photo contest is not required for this event. All expereince levels are welcome! Spreckels Hill was permanently protected as open space in 2019 and is not yet open to the public, so this event is a special opportunity to explore this beautiful area while planning work is underway for its future restoration.
Please come prepared. There will be sections of uneven trail, so please wear comfortable hiking shoes, light layers and bring snacks and water.

Registered attendees will receive a separate email with directions for driving and parking; please note parking will be in an unpaved field.
