Bring your morning Joe or a cup a tea and spend a morning with the birds at one of Jacksonville's prominent urban parks, Riverside Park!Elizabeth Filippelli and Cindy Corey of the Duval Audubon Society and Lisa Williams from Sierra Club, will present a program on what you can do to save our migrating birds and our local bird population.
Learn about the perils of artificial light pollution and how reflective glass is impacting our migrating birds.
Learn what you can do to support Lights Out taking action at your own home.
Afterwards, we will have a guided walk through the park listening and learning about the birds that make it their home.
We will also learn about the Riverside Park Kind Outreach and Rescue Pilot and the upcoming plans to create a more wildlife friendly environment for our own native birds. The Pilot is a coalition of conservation partners including Duval Audubon, Sierra Club Northeast Florida, COJ Parks, FWS, Friends of Riverside Park and IXIA Native Plant Society.
Fall Migration starts in September. We should see and hear some of our amazing migrating songbirds as they stop over on their migration path to their winter homes!
Sierra Club will provide rolls and or snacks. Please bring your coffee or tea in a reusable cup that you can take back home with you.
