Morgana’s Monthly Singer/ Songwriter’s Circle Who? I am excited to announce the FIRST of the Singer/ Songwriter’s Circle/ Gathering’s at “THE GROOVE STREET THEATER!!!” This is like a group voice and songwriter’s class, but so much more! This is for people who want to find their voice, deepen their connection with the power of their voice in the world at large, and develop techniques as a vocalist/ singer and songwriter.
What? *The first meeting will be (WOMEN ONLY) or those who identify as women, every THIRTEETH (13th) of the month, to honor the “death card” in Tarot, the energies of TRANSFORMATION, like the phoenix bird. We will meet to share our voice through song and empower one another to use and deepen our connection with our own voice, by holding a safe, non- judgmental space. The safe container I am consciously holding entails us to journey through some throat chakra exercises, vocal warm-ups, crystal-bowl and other sound healing instruments, group cohesion by way of fun exercises: using sound and the voice. We will share songs, and close with medicine songs.
Also: LIGHT POTLUCK, please bring healthy GF snacks if you are guided.
***I am emphasizing the goals of this club/gathering/circle meeting is to write your own songs, and not perform covers, we will have opportunities to sing covers (like medicine songs at the end), but when sharing a song with the group, please have it be your own (this is why we are here in the first place- to learn, to grow and develop techniques for songwriting, singing, and overall musicianship).
*Outline of a Loose Structure for the monthly meetings:
1) Individual check-ins (within the group): Questions like “what’s your name, what are your goals for the year 2024 related to unlocking the power of your own voice, something you want to share with the group that occurred within the last month that has to do with your voice or creative expression, any breakthroughs? Inspirations?”
2) Sound healing, reconnection to your voice: I will hold space for a short, guided journey using sound healing instruments for you to connect with your own voice + throat chakra.
3) Vocal warm-ups: developing techniques as a singer/ vocalist.
4) Use your voice: sharing 1-3 songs you wrote to the group (depending on how many people we have in the group that month).
*Again, I am emphasizing the importance of sharing songs YOU wrote, and not singing cover songs.
*Also, a side note: it is recommended you accompany yourself, but I am happy to accompany you or provide you with an instrument if you need, for added support <3
5) Individual songwriting within the group: I will pass out “lyric template worksheets” that you can start during our time together and take it home to continue developing your songs.
6) Closing Circle: Singing “Medicine Songs” together. You are welcome to suggest any songs and lead the songs at the end. Good-byes, &/ or any questions you may have.
Where? At the community of Prescott’s newest theater space: THE GROOVE STREET THEATER, located at 125 Grove Ave, Prescott, AZ 86301, right across from Prescott college and next to the mortuary!
How? This monthly event is for all skill levels of musicianship. Must be interested in learning how to write songs and sing. Adults group only, kids may attend if accompanied by parents or guardians. No more than 20 people, as this is a small venue. PLEASE RSVP by call or text phone # (808)-634-1463.
*I am asking for love donations of at least $20, but if you can’t afford it, come anyway. The more the merrier!
Why? This monthly singer/songwriter circle is not just for singers or musicians, but for those who want to unlock the power of their voice, develop deeper awareness of transmuting negative self-talk and other limiting patterns of behavior, and improve your daily communications (internally and externally).
*Side note: The power of the 5th chakra correlates to how we think and communicate. It is the element ether; it is our manifestation chakra. We as humans are unlocking dormant DNA and waking up to the hidden potentials (within and without). Your voice is your soul speaking/singing/ expressing. It is a multi-dimensional, powerful instrument for creation, a bridge. Together, we will embark on this collective journey of unlocking and empowering one another by way of giving each other a safe space/ container to EXPRESS yourself.
