Exploring six MORE sewn bindings, this project is also ideal for beginners
Beginning with a simple single hole stitch and progressing to a buttonhole binding, this workshop will teach you 6 different sewn book structures.
You will learn about paper grain direction, how to fold and cut down sheets of paper to make sections and how to measure and prick sewing holes accurately. Each book in this series helps you to understand how sewn bindings work, develop your technique and manual skills and most of all build your confidence.
If you would like to make you own journals and sketchbooks and are interested in learning bookbinding, this workshop is an excellent foundation to build on.
Your tutor, Tamsin, is an artist with a special interest in paper, print and book arts with a not-so-secret mission to help people reconnect with their inner creative spark. Advocating the benefits of creativity for wellbeing for everyone, Tamsin is a trained Mental Health First Aider. Working from her studio in Fisherton MIll, Salisbury Tamsin makes small editions of individual notebooks, sketchbooks and journals and offers a book repair service.
