Join the Illinois Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for a Moral Revival as forty-five states move in unison to demand from our U.S. Senators that they unequivocally adopt and support our demands to:
- End the Filibuster
- Fully Restore the 1965 Voting Rights Act
- Pass all provisions of the For the People Act
- Raise the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour
We will gather at 230 S. Dearborn Ave. (Federal Plaza) Monday, July 26th, 11am-12pm.
Please tell us you’re coming.
As the pandemic reveals the growing and deepening poverty across the nation, the actions taken at the federal level impact our lives in the states. Private industry cannot and will not bail us out. With over 43% of folks in this country living at or near poverty, the time for half measures has passed.
“Capitalism does not permit an even flow of economic resources. With this system, a small privileged few are rich beyond conscience, and almost all others are doomed to be poor at some level. That’s the way the system works. And since we know that the system will not change the rules, we are going to have to change the system.” --Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
