Register here: https://bit.ly/BeloitListeningSessionJoin the Wisconsin Poor People's Campaign, Rock County community members, and those seeking office for a moral march and community listening session on Saturday, October 15th. Hear from community members directly impacted by the interlocking injustices of racism, voter suppression, housing insecurity, denial of healthcare and living wages. This system is hurting us and our siblings, and we won't be silent anymore!
**March Meet Up: 12:30pm @ Summit Park, 1218 Henry Ave, Beloit, WI**
Join us at 12:30pm for a moral march from Summit Park to New Zion Baptist Church, part of a Nationally Coordinated Day of Action across the country. We will march in the streets calling on elected officials to listen to the demands of the 35 percent of Wisconsinites who identify as poor and low-wealth, the 1.2 million Wisconsin residents working for less than $15/an hour, and the 313,000 Wisconsin residents who lack health insurance.
**Listening Session: 2:00pm @ New Zion Baptist Church, 1905 Mound Ave, Beloit, WI**
At 2:00pm we will gather at New Zion to hear from directly impacted residents, local faith leaders, and Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis, co-chair of the Poor People's Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival. Elected officials and those seeking office are invited to listen, however, will not be invited to speak. The event is also supported by League of Women Voters and NAACP. Masks will be required inside of New Zion and temperature checks will be taken at door.
This election season we are saying Our Votes are Not Supports, They are Demands. The Poor People's Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival is uniting people across lines of difference around the 3rd Reconstruction Agenda to build long-term power. We do not endorse candidates but call on candidates to endorse our agenda. We know from our work today and from our history that when poor people come together across race, gender, geography, and issue areas uniting around an agenda, we have the power to impact elections and to revive the heart and soul of our democracy and our nation.
